Fr. Matthew P. Schneider, LC has a great idea of how we can honor Fr. Jacques Hamel and stand up against ISIS. Here is his proposal:
“The best way to fight ISIS for most of us is to do exactly what they want to scare us away from: to stand up against them together and remind them they can't scare us into submission. When cartoonists were shot at Charlie Hebdo, people bought up the next edition at a record pace. Now a priest has had his neck sliced to scare us away from Catholic churches, so I want to invite every person - Catholic, Protestant, Muslim, Atheist, Buddhist, uncertain of their religion, or whatever else - to come to a Catholic church for Mass this Sunday. This way we can show solidarity together in the face of ISIS and say together "I am Jacques Hamel." Not only does it show our mutual stand to not be scared into a corner but we will all be together at a prayer, a prayer we can each offer for peace. This is my personal proposal but I think it would be an appropriate way to honor Fr Jacques Hamel.”
Let's stand together against terrorism at Catholic Mass this Sunday.#IAmJacquesHamel
If you've been away from the Church, this is the perfect time to start going to Mass again; Jesus is waiting for all of us.
French bishops declare today as a day of fasting in response to the murder of Fr. Jacques Hamel.
Let us unite, pray, and fast more for the conversion of our brothers and sisters. I invite you to start going to Mass if you have been away, go to Mass more often, spend more time in the Blessed Sacrament, and pray for peace.
God bless you.
Your sister in Christ,
